This is required for customs clearance in Japan. Fill in the item name, quantity and the value of the item, followed by your signature.

Q : What is Unaccompanied Baggage?
A : Items that you do not have with you physically when you travel into the other country. Unaccompanied baggage can arrive after you move abroad.
Q : What is the difference between an unaccompanied baggage shipment and a regular cargo shipment?
A : If you are shipping items internationally, it is a regular cargo shipment and you must pay duty & taxes. If you send the items as unaccompanied baggage, it is duty & tax exempt.
Q : How do I categorize my shipment as unaccompanied baggage at Japan?
A : Declare your unaccompanied baggage and submit the form to the customs officer after you get off the airplane.
Q : How do I complete an unaccompanied baggage declaration?
A : Prepare 2 copies of the Unaccompanied Baggage declaration form. You can download the form here.
When filling out question #3 ("Do you have Unaccompanied Articles?"), select "Yes" and fill in the number of pieces you have sent. When you arrive in Japan, after immigration, submit the 2 copies of the Unaccompanied Baggage declaration to the customs officer. The officer will return 1 copy after sealing it. Send this sealed copy to the Customs Clearance Department in the OCS Toyko office.
Q : What is volume weight?
A : Multiply the three dimensions (length, width & height) of the item in cm. The result of L x W x H (cm) ÷ 5000 is the volume weight of the shipment.
e.g.)
Dimension: L 30 cm × W 30 cm × H 100 cm
Actual weight: 12 kg
Volume weight: 30 x 30 x 100 ÷ 5000 => 18 kg
In this case, chargeable weight is 18 kg.
Q : Can we send suitcases or travel duffel bags?
A : Yes, you can. After pick-up, we will wrap your bag to protect it from scratches.
Q : Can I send my shipment prior to my arrival in Japan?
A : OCS can send the shipment to Japan only a few days before you arrive Japan. If the shipment has been picked up ahead of time, we will hold it and store your shipment until the appropriate delivery date. Holding a shipment is subject to a storage charge.
Q : What can't I send?
A : With this service, we cannot accept anything considered dangerous goods by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). We cannot transport any goods considered illegal to export from Canada, or illegal to import into Japan. In addition, some items can only be imported in limited quantities into Japan.

Q : Can you hold the shipment until I find my place in Japan?
A : Yes, we can temporarily store your shipment until you find your new home in Japan. Storage charges are as follows:
* We count pick up date as Day Zero, and 1 week before your moving date to Japan will be counted as the last day of storage.
